Steamboat Springs is gearing up for a soft opening of its newest jewel, the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex, poised to become the largest pickleball facility in the Rocky Mountains. Covering 35,000 square feet, the center boasts 12 cushioned indoor pickleball courts and 8 outdoor courts, providing ample space for year-round play.
Inside, visitors will find cutting-edge features including new lighting, playback cameras, and a pro shop. The complex also includes a community room and a dedicated mezzanine for tournament viewing. This grand expansion, split into two phases starting in 2022, involved a hefty $12.5 million investment, with $7.6 million raised privately and the rest financed through loans.
Managed by HLCC Construction Company and designed by Vertical Arts, the new facility is already attracting national attention. The United Pickleball Association will host its Colorado UPA State Championship Series here from September 13-15, showcasing top amateur players. Additionally, a fundraising event called the Center Court Smash is scheduled for August 6, which will support further renovations at the complex. This new center reflects the community’s dedication to expanding recreational opportunities and enhancing the local sports scene.
