Loveland, CO – October 19, 2023 — The Fort Collins Foothills Rotary Club is all set to host a fundraising pickleball event this weekend at The Picklr in Loveland. This exciting initiative aims to support low-income single parents in the community, with all proceeds going to Project Self-Sufficiency, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping single parents achieve economic independence and build strong, healthy families.
A Fun-Filled Fundraising Extravaganza
The Pickleball Classic, organized by the Rotary Club, promises a day of thrilling matches and community spirit. Mark Goldrich, a Rotary Club member, expressed his enthusiasm about the event. Having collaborated with Project Self-Sufficiency previously, the Rotary Club saw pickleball as an ideal opportunity for a fundraising event. “There doesn’t seem to be any typical divisions you get in a lot of sports,” Goldrich explained. “We thought it would be an ideal event.”

Making a Difference, One Game at a Time
The event, open to a maximum of 126 players, encourages participants to make a suggested donation of $50. The tournament will feature two sessions, one kicking off at 9 a.m. and another at 1 p.m., ensuring that everyone interested can take part. Though not a formal tournament, winners of each of the nine courts will be honored with trophies, adding a competitive edge to the day’s festivities.
A Helping Hand for Single Parents
The funds generated from this event will be donated to Project Self-Sufficiency, a nonprofit organization devoted to aiding single parents in their journey toward financial independence. The organization’s mission, as stated on their website, is to assist single parents “in their efforts to achieve economic independence and become free from community and government assistance while building and maintaining strong, healthy families.” The Rotary Club, with their commitment to community welfare, hopes to raise an impressive $35,000 for this noble cause.
