World-Renowned Pickleball Player is Coming to Kearney
The world’s top pickleball player visited Kearney to play with some of the best in the area.
Ben Johns came from a tennis and table tennis background before switching to squash roughly five years ago. He told us about the distinctions between pickleball and tennis.
“I’d say pickleball is definitely more social.” It’s a friendlier neighborhood. I’m hoping it doesn’t lose it. It’s obviously a little more about strategy. I believe it is much easier to learn and improve rapidly, which makes it incredibly appealing for people to play. “There are a lot of parallels,” Johns added.
Players don’t travel very often, according to Johns, so this was a fantastic opportunity for him. Heber Crockett, a local orthopedic specialist, coordinated the trip and flew Johns in from the Washington, D.C. region.
Pickleball is a growing sport, according to Johns, and if you haven’t tried it yet, you should. It’s called “a ball.
